Producers can be absolutely amazing or absolutely useless. Writing books was a lot of fun, and something I still enjoy (though I write prose rarely these days as the film/tv side takes up most of my time and creative energies), and I soon segued into film/tv, first adapting my own novels, and then others', as well as originals.Īgents are necessary but not particularly helpful, except for very specific circumstances where they're crucial for a day or two. I started as as novelist, actually, and got very lucky very young - that shielded me from a lot of the necessary growing pains that are part of any artist's life.
